About MORAD Bouchakour

Photographer Morad Bouchakour was born in 1965, the son of an Algerian father and Dutch mother. He spent his formative years in Amsterdam. In 1995 he graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. He then relocated to New York to work as an independent photographer. In 1996 he became the first Dutch photographer selected to take part in the World Press Photo Masterclass. The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts (Fonds BKVB) awarded him with an incentive grant in 1997.

The Retreat

Our quinta is located in the natural park Ria Formosa, where the light, like the tide, changes every minute of the day. The lagoon – with its small oyster farm and abundant birdlife – is exceptionally photogenic, as are the ancient villages nearby.
At Quinta do Pinheiro you start your day with a healthy breakfast featuring locally sourced products. In the evening you will enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by our skilled Portuguese chef, showcasing the flavors of the region. Lunch is at your own leisure. The manager of the quinta is happy to arrange reservations and transportation upon request. We would also like to assist you with renting a bike. In free hours you can explore the breathtaking Ria Formosa.

This retreat has a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 participants.
