Photography Workshop with Morad Bouchakour October

Photography Workshop with Morad Bouchakour

October 6 – october 11, 2025

Morad’s workshop takes a comprehensive approach. It considers every aspect of what a photographer brings to the table—personality, technical skills, creative vision, life experiences, and unique perspectives. Through personal and group sessions, as well as targeted assignments on location, participants are guided to find their own creative direction, making their progress more meaningful and lasting. As a mentor, Morad’s ultimate goal is for participants to leave the workshop with confidence, independence, and a renewed sense of inspiration.
The inspiring nature and authentic villages around the historic farmhouse offer great opportunities for photography, as well as for walks and cycling
trips. Before the workshop Morad will be in contact with you about what you would like to achieve during the workshop and what to bring so you will arrive well prepared.

MORAD Bouchakour

The Dutch-Algerian photographer Morad Bouchakour (1965) spent his formative years in Amsterdam and graduated in 1995 from the Royal Academy of the Arts in The Hague with his award-winning documentary about the Mexican Mennonites.

In 1996, he became the first Dutch photographer selected to take part in the World Press Photo Masterclass. He then relocated to New York City as an independent photographer (1996-2008).

The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts (Fonds BKVB) awarded him an incentive grant in 1997, and in 1999, Morad won the PANL award for best commercial photography in the Netherlands. In 2001, he was assigned a solo exhibition at the prestigious Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam with the documentary “PARTY! In the Netherlands.” Since then, Morad has combined commercial and magazine assignments with photo book publications and museum exhibitions, the latest being “Flash/Back” at the Mauritshuis in The Hague (2022).

Morad has been coaching and mentoring photographers since 2016 through several academies and private workshops. He is still active as a commercial and magazine photographer and is preparing his next exhibition, “Traces” (Sporen), for 2026.

The Retreat

Quinta do Pinheiro is located in the natural park Ria Formosa, where the light, like the tide, changes every minute of the day. The lagoon – with its small oyster farm and abundant birdlife – is exceptionally photogenic, as are the ancient villages nearby.
At Quinta do Pinheiro you start your day with a healthy breakfast featuring locally sourced products. In the evening you will enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by our skilled Portuguese chef, showcasing the flavors of the region. Lunch is at your own leisure. The manager of the quinta is happy to arrange reservations and transportation upon request. We would also like to assist you with renting a bike. In free hours you can explore the breathtaking Ria Formosa.
